The regional political outfit Amra Bangali on Tuesday submitted a seven-point public interest memorandum to Tripura Chief Minister through the Dhalai District Magistrate, urging the government to take swift and decisive action on issues arising from the recent unrest in Santirbazar. The party’s demands come in the wake of violent incidents that occurred on October 23 during a 24-hour bandh reportedly called by a section of civil society. According to Amra Bangali, several traders, officials, and common citizens were attacked, and numerous shops were vandalised during the unrest. The memorandum sought immediate identification and exemplary punishment of those responsible for the violence. In its submission, the party also urged the state government to bear the full medical expenses of those injured in the incident and provide financial compensation to affected traders. The memorandum proposed compensation of Rs 40 lakh for severely affected shop owners and Rs 10 lakh for those with minor losses, subject to official verification.Amra Bangali further demanded the establishment of a permanent police picket or a Tripura State Rifles (TSR) camp in the Santirbazar market area to prevent recurrence of such incidents. The party also called for strict control over the sale and licensing of alcohol and narcotic substances in the region, alleging that such activities were contributing to social instability. The memorandum emphasised the need for block-level development plans to ensure 100 percent employment for local residents, alongside efforts to promote social harmony and remove what the party termed as “historical distortions and divisive propaganda.
