Residents of Kalipur–Latiapura villages under Kailashahar subdivision are facing severe difficulties due to the closure of the border fencing gate along the India–Bangladesh border. Farming activities have come to a halt, and livestock rearing has also been disrupted. For a long time, the villagers have depended on cultivating their agricultural land and rearing livestock located across the border for their livelihood. However, for the past two weeks, farmers have been unable to access their own land because the border fencing gate remains closed. As a result, farming has effectively stopped, and the care of cattle and goats has also been affected. This has had a serious impact on the livelihoods of many local families. In this regard, the residents led by vice chairman of Gournagar Panchayat Samity, Md. Badruzzaman have submitted a written application to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Kailashahar subdivision. They have requested the administration to allow regulated movement through the border gate so that they can legally continue their agricultural activities. At the same time, the residents have stated that if permission to farm across the border is not granted, then proper compensation, including the value of the affected land, should be provided. The locals have expressed hope that the administration will take necessary steps soon to resolve the issue
