Capacity Building Programme for BODs and CEOs of FPCs Begins at Bagma

A three-day training programme on “Strengthening Governance and Leadership: Capacity Building for Boards of Directors (BODs) and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs)” has commenced today at the BAPCL Conference Hall, Bagma, Udaipur, Gomati District, Tripura. The event is sponsored by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and organized by Bagma Agri Producer Company Limited (BAPCL).The inaugural session began with the registration of participants followed by a welcome address by Sudip Majumder, CMD of BAPCL. The objective and expectations of the training were shared by Mr. Pradip Debnath, MO, BAPCL.The first technical session, conducted by Kiran Bhowmik, PhD Scholar, Tripura University, focused on “Understanding FPO Concept and Legal Framework,” covering Companies Act provisions, FPC rules, and NABARD/SFAC guidelines. This was followed by a session on “Roles and Responsibilities of BODs and CEOs” led by Md. Farukul Islam, CEO, BAPCL, emphasizing governance, ethics, and transparency.In the afternoon, Pradip Debnath discussed “Record Keeping and Decision Making”, while Mr. Sudip Majumder delivered a session on “Good Governance Practices in FPOs” highlighting accountability, conflict resolution, and member engagement. The day concluded with a game and role-play activity facilitated by Biswajit Debnath, COO, and Mr. Pradip Debnath, MO, BAPCL.On the second day, participants will engage in brainstorming sessions, followed by an exposure visit to interact with successful FPOs and CEOs. The final day will include technical sessions on “Marketing, Branding, and Collective Business Models” to be conducted by Chandan Roy, Special Trainer, SoFED.The training programme aims to enhance leadership skills, governance quality, and business management capacities of FPC leaders in Tripura, ensuring better performance and sustainability of producer companies in the state
