College girl gang raped, prime accused arrested

Agartala, May 11: A collge girl was gang raped on a moving vehicle by her ‘friend’ at Kathaltali in West Tripura district trigerrign public outcry.

The girl who was rescued in critical condition at Amtali bypass on Tuesday night was admitted to GBP hospital. Police have already arrested the main accused identified as Gautam Sharma and started interrogation.

“The girl was seen moving on a vehicle with his friend on Monday. Later, he sexually assaulted the college girl against her will and left her near Amatali bypass”, Subdivisional Police Officer (SDPO) Asish Dasgupta told the media on Wednesday.

Initially the police found that the girl had regular conversation with the youth and the crime was committed by Gautam, he said adding investigation has already initiated to check if other persons are involved in the incident or not.

He said a specific case has been registered against Gautam with Amtali police station following a complaint from the victim’s mother.

According to the victim's mother, “My daughter was waiting to return home from the college. Suddenly, one youth came and offered to let her leave and accordingly my daughter took the seat in the vehicle”.

“My college going girl was raped by three youths and abandoned on Amatali bypass on Tuesday. After being alerted by our relatives, we rushed there and took the girl to GBP hospital as he was fainted by then” she said in the complaint
