Tripura: As the first phase of Lok Sabha elections unfolds in Tripura, the Sunamura subdivision faces significant challenges due to the presence of only one Micro Observer in reserve. The dearth of Micro Observers has sparked concerns among officials tasked with ensuring a smooth electoral process. The predicament arises from the issuance of an exemption notice by the District Election Officer for Sepahijala District, Bishramganj. The notice exempts three appointed Micro Observers, namely Kunal Debbarma, Tridip Bhattacharjee, and Saurav Das, from their duties. These Micro Observers, who are Asstt. Professors at the College of Agriculture, have been replaced by other officers.Puneet Agarwal, Chief Electoral Officer in Tripura, assured the press in a secretariat meeting that preparatory measures have been taken to ensure a free and fair electoral process. Security personnel have been deployed across the state, with a total of one hundred battalions of CRPF allocated for Tripura and stationed as per requirements.Tomorrow marks the commencement of the first phase of elections in Tripura, specifically for the West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency. Polling personnel have been dispatched to polling stations equipped with necessary materials to facilitate voting. In adherence to guidelines, model and women-driven polling stations have been established.Despite the obstacles, the situation in Tripura remains under control, with no reported incidents jeopardizing the electoral process under the West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency. Excitement is palpable among new voters as they eagerly anticipate exercising their democratic right. Moreover, given Tripura's proximity to the Bangladesh border, security measures have been reinforced by BSF personnel along the border areas
