Emergency surgery at AGMC saves precious life of critically injured youth

 Under the dedicated efforts and initiative of Chief Minister Manik Saha, the introduction of “Emergency Life-Saving Surgery” at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) & GBP Hospital has saved the life of a young man, an official said on Tuesday.Due to the prompt and timely medical care provided by the specialist doctors at the Trauma Care Centre of AGMC & GBP Hospital, 24-year-old Pradip Debbarma was brought back from the brink of death. The young man, a resident of Debipur, Kalachhara, Shalbagan under Sidhai Mohanpur, was critically injured in a road accident on April 11 around 8:00 AM.He was referred from Hejamara Primary Health Centre to Agartala Government Medical College & GBP Hospital in a very critical and life-threatening condition. Upon arrival at the hospital, specialist doctors from the Emergency Medicine Department immediately began examination and treatment. The team performed an “Emergency Life-Saving Surgery,” marking the first time such a procedure was conducted at the hospital.Subsequently, the patient underwent surgery under the supervision of a team of specialist doctors from the Department of General Surgery, led by Dr. Nilotpal Chakma (Professor & Unit Head). The surgical team included Assistant Professor Dr. Pritam Das, Senior Resident Dr. Sourav Das, Dr. Abirami P.P., and Dr. Bhupendra Kumar (PG). The anesthetists were Senior Resident Dr. Anindita Debnath and Dr. Jiniya Dewan (PG), along with OT nurses and technicians.The patient is currently stable and recovering under medical supervision
