Agartala: Nov 22: Purbasha was in a neglected state during the previous government's tenure, turning into a hub for anti-social elements. However, the current government is taking various initiatives to develop the traditional industries of Tripura. This was stated by Purbasha Chairman and MLA Kishor Barman at a function held to celebrate Tribal Day.

The Tribal Welfare Department celebrated Tribal Day at Pragya Bhavan, Agartala on Friday. Purbasha Chairman and MLA Kishor Barman was present at the event.

Speaking to reporters, MLA Kishor Barman said that efforts are being made to open stalls of bamboo and cane products in various tourist destinations within the state and outside. He also informed that initiatives have been taken to start shops selling products made by Purbasha artisans at railway stations and airports in the state.

Purbasha Chairman and MLA Kishor Barman expressed hope that through these notable initiatives, the lost heritage of Tripura, which was once known worldwide for its bamboo and cane industry, can be re-established.
