IT Minister releases fund of Rs. 6.23 crore for smart phones

Under the leadership of  CM Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, the Government of Tripura continues its commitment to empowering students with improved facilities and greater access to digital learning opportunities, the Information & Technology said in a social media post on Wednesday.“Pranajit Singha Roy, Minister for IT, Finance & P&C, Government of Tripura, released Rs. 6,23,90,000 under the Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana (MYYY) for the Academic Year 2024–25 at a programme held at the Secretariat, Agartala”, it wrote on Facebook.Through this initiative, 12,478 eligible final-year students studying in Government Colleges across the State will receive Rs. 5,000 each as a smartphone grant, enabling them to access digital learning resources and enhance their educational opportunities. The scheme is being implemented by the Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Tripura.For AY 2024–25, the scheme was formally launched by the Hon’ble Chief Minister on 28 October 2025, and applications were invited from 1 November to 20 December 2025.A total of 12,478 applications from 40 Government Colleges, Institutes, and Universities have been found eligible for the current financial year. The financial assistance will be transferred directly to beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).The programme was attended by Kiran Gitte, Secretary, IT, Government of Tripura, Jeya Ragul Geshan B,IFS, Director, IT, Government of Tripura along with DIT officials, IT Nodal Officers from colleges, and student representatives.
