Man held for molesting minor in Sonamura

Tripura Police on Wednesday morning arrested a man for allegedly molesting a minor girl under the jurisdiction of Sonamura police station, two days after the complaint was lodged, officials said.The accused, identified as Jahar Miah, was apprehended from the Nandannagar area of Agartala with the assistance of personnel from Bodhjungnagar and Amtali police stations, Officer-in-Charge of Sonamura police station Tapas Das said.He said the complaint was received on December 1 at around 3.45 pm. After a preliminary inquiry, a case was registered the same night under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. According to police, the accused had been absconding since the alleged incident.A joint team later traced him to Nandannagar Noabadi area and detained him, the officer said. The accused was produced before the court with a prayer for police remand as per procedure
