Mayor clears doubts: Agartala Book Fair to be held at Hapania

: Clearing all doubts, Mayor Dipak Majumder on Tuesday said the Agartala Book Fair, one of the popular events, will be held at the international fair ground at Hapania. The announcement came at the steering committee meeting held at Muktadhara Auditorium here.ile speaking, the Mayor said Chief Minister Manik Saha in the first meeting of the book fair committee had emphasized on consensus on selection of venue for book fair.“In today’s meeting, most of the attendees expressed their opinions for holding book fair at international fair ground in Hapania keeping in mind of the its existing facilities and other aspects”, he said.Majumder said the book fair has grown to a large event with steep increase in stalls- from 24 stalls in 1991 to 191 in 2023. The footfall in the book fair has also increased significant.“If we host the book fair at Vivekananda ground or Umakanta ground, it may be adverse impact on the traffic. Besides, we need to create facilities for the event while facilities have already been created at Hapania ground. More so, the people’s participation in Hapania ground is also gradually increasing. Therefore, on the basis of the opinions passed by the guests, the book fair will be held at the international fair ground at Hapania”, he said.   Majumder, who is also an MLA of Ramnagar Assembly constituency, said there will be initiatives to make the book fair a grand success
