Agartala: Dec 10: A historic protest march and public meeting were organized in Kailashahar on Tuesday afternoon by the Hindu Ekta Manch, demanding the release of Chinmoy Das, an ISKCON spokesperson from Bangladesh, and protesting the atrocities committed against minorities in Bangladesh. The march was led by prominent lawyers Sandeep Debroy, Gautam Das, Deepak Bhattacharya, and others. Starting from the Tri-Junction in Srirampur, the procession passed through several key areas in Kailashahar town, including Govindapur, Central Road, Hospital Road, P.W.D Road, Netaji Corner, Girls School Road, and Shanitala Road, before reaching the R.K.I School ground near the India-Bangladesh border for the public meeting.

Before the meeting, the protesters gathered at the India-Bangladesh international border at Manu Land Customs in Kailashahar, where they staged a protest against Bangladesh's border guards for about half an hour. The protest was marked by strong security, with heavy deployments of BSF, CRPF, police, and TSR forces along the border. The situation was eventually brought under control by the police, and the public meeting commenced thereafter.

At the meeting, lawyer Sandeep Debroy addressed the crowd, condemning the unjust arrest of Chinmoy Das by the Bangladesh government, led by Prime Minister Yunus. Debroy asserted that the Hindu Ekta Manch would continue its protests until Das was released unconditionally. He further criticized the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh, which, according to him, is drawing international condemnation. Debroy reminded the gathering that Bangladesh owes its independence to India’s support during the 1971 liberation war and accused the Bangladeshi government of acting traitorously, likening them to Mir Jafar, a historical figure known for betrayal.
