State observers Rabindra Janyanti on birth anniversary of Nobel laureate

Birth anniversary of Nobel laureate, Rabindranath Tagore was observed across the state by organizing various cultural programmes- dance, recitation and songs. The main programme of Rabindra Jayanti was held at Rabindra Kanan, Circuit House where Industries and Commerce Minister, Santana Chakma garlanded the Nobel laureate on his birth anniversary. Director of Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA), Bimbisar Bhattacharjee and chairman of state cultural committee, Subrata Chakraborty also remained present.Speaking to the media, the minister recalled Tagore’s creations in the field of culture, tradition and making India proud as he received Nobel award. “Tagore is the only person who had written national anthem for two countries- India and Bangladesh. The people irrespective of their beliefs must follow the ideals of Tagore”, she said.Pradesh Congress also offered floral tribute to Tagore on his birth anniversary at Congress Bhavan. Among others, Pradesh Congress president Asish Kumar Saha gave floral tribute to the great novelist.
