State records 16 increase in arrest of infiltrators: CM Manik Saha

Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday said the arrest of Bangladesh nationals in the northeastern state has increased by 16 percent in 2024 compared to 2023.The Chief Minister’s statement came following Tipra Motha Party (TMP) MLA Ranjit Debbarma’s recent letter to Union Home Minister Amit Saha seeking his intervention to detect and deport infiltrators from the northeastern state.While addressing a government progamme in Khowai district’s Baijalbari, the Chief Minister said the arrest of Bangladesh nationals has been increased by 16 percent in 2024 with compared to 2025.“We made it clear that infiltration from across the border will not be tolerated. The police and other law enforcement agencies have been working to prevent infiltration. Steps have been taken to deport infiltrators if the cross over international boundary as per the law”, he said.Saha also highlighted the improvement in the state’s overall law and order situation during the present dispensation.“According to NCRB reports, Tripura stands third from the bottom of the crime chart among the 28 states of the country. The overall crime rate has been reduced by 19.40 percent in 2024 with compared to 2023. An average of 10 percent crime has been dwindled in the first four month of the current year”, he said.Reiterating that his government shows a zero tolerance policy to drug abuse or smuggling, the Chief Minister the law enforcement agencies have achieves good success in seizure and destruction of drugs and narcotics.
