Training-cum-Input Distribution Programme on Integrated Organic Duck Farming

Agartala, Sep.10.. ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), located in West Tripura, in collaboration with the ICAR–Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute (CSWRI) from Avikanagar, Rajasthan, successfully organized a two-day Training-cum-Input Distribution Programme focused on Integrated Organic Duck Farming from the 8th to the 9th of September 2025 under the NEH component at KVK West Tripura, Belbari.

This initiative benefited a total of 40 farmers and farm women, who received ducklings, livestock feed, and essential veterinary medicines provided by ICAR CSWRI. The training aimed to promote sustainable livelihood opportunities by integrating organic farming practices with duck rearing, thus ensuring nutritional security and enhancing farm income for rural households.

The event was graced by several esteemed guests. Dr. Biswajit Das, Head (I/C) of the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Tripura Centre, attended the occasion alongside Dr. Vinay Singh, a Scientist specializing in Poultry Science. Dr. Ranjeet Singh Godara and Dr. Arvind Soni, both veterinary scientists from ICAR-CSWRI, actively engaged in the event and offered technical guidance to the farmers.

On behalf of KVK West Tripura, Dr. Mandira Chakraborti, SMS (Agronomy) & (I/C), extended a warm welcome to all participants and dignitaries. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Debashis Datta, SMS (Agril. Extension), with significant contributions from Dr. Maibam Baby Devi, SMS (Home Science), and Dr. Nagaraju M.C., SMS (Agricultural Entomology).

During the technical sessions, experts highlighted the potential and benefits of organic duck farming as a crucial component of integrated farming systems, emphasizing low-cost rearing practices and health management. Farmers expressed their appreciation for the practical training and timely input support.

The two-day programme concluded on a positive note, reaffirming the dedication of ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar, and KVK West Tripura to empower farmers through knowledge, capacity building, and resource support for sustainable agricultural development in the region
