Training Program on FPO Management Conducted at KVK, West Tripura

 The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), West Tripura, Belbari, has successfully organized a one-day training programme on the Management of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) with the participation of farmers, FPO members, and extension professionals from across the district. The programme has been conducted under the aegis of ICAR-RC for NEH Region with the objective of enhancing the entrepreneurial and agribusiness capacities of FPOs.The training programme has started with registration and an inaugural session, followed by a keynote address from the course director. Experts have delivered a series of lectures on critical themes such as governance and importance of FPOs, risk management and sustainability of FPO business, corporate linkages, value chain and market integration, and access to finance and credit through financial institutions. These sessions have been designed to equip FPO members with practical knowledge to strengthen their organizations and improve farmers’ income.The training was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Ganesh Das, Senior Scientist-cum-Head of KVK, who served as the Course Director. The KVK authority has expressed confidence that such training programmes have strengthened the FPO movement in West Tripura and have empowered farmers to adopt better management practices for sustainable agricultural growth.A key highlight of the programme has been the invited lecture by Kiran Bhowmik, an Advisor of Bagma Agri Producer Company Limited (BAPCL) on the topic “Preparation of Agri-Business Model by FPOs.” His presentation has focused on strategies for developing sustainable business models, value addition, and innovative marketing practices. The lecture has been highly appreciated by participants for its practical relevance.Throughout the day-long event, participants have actively engaged in discussions and shared their experiences. The training has concluded with a valedictory session, where participants’ feedback has been collected, reflecting the programme’s usefulness in building awareness and skills among FPO members.
