Tripura CM Calls for Patriotism Among Younger Generation

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday urged the younger generation to remain aware of the painful history of India’s Partition and strengthen their commitment to patriotism and nation building.

The Chief Minister was addressing a programme organised at the Rabindra Auditorium of Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) College in Agartala to mark Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Saha said that while August 15 brings the joy and pride of India’s Independence, August 14 serves as a reminder of the immense suffering caused by Partition. He recalled the pain of families who lost their loved ones, people who were displaced from their homes and the hardships endured by millions during that turbulent period.

Dr. Saha stressed the importance of preserving the memories of Partition so that future generations understand its human cost and remain conscious of this tragic chapter in the country’s history.

Highlighting the significance of the national flag, the Chief Minister said every colour of the Tricolour represents the sacrifice, courage and patriotism of countless freedom fighters who devoted their lives to securing India’s freedom.

He said citizens across the country share a deep emotional connection with the Tricolour, which symbolises national pride, unity and the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle.

Referring to the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, Dr. Saha said the initiative is aimed at honouring freedom fighters and encouraging citizens to strengthen their sense of patriotism and attachment to the nation.

The Chief Minister also made a special appeal to Gen-Z and students, urging them to develop a deeper understanding of India’s history and actively participate in nation-building activities. He said young people have an important role in protecting the values of unity and national integrity.

Dr. Saha encouraged students to study the events surrounding Partition and learn about the suffering and sacrifices experienced by previous generations.

The observance at MBB College provided a platform to remember the victims of Partition and reflect on the lessons of history. It also reinforced the importance of unity, patriotism and collective responsibility in building the nation’s future.
