Tripura Tourism Minister Meets Union Finance Minister in Delhi, Seeks Support for New Projects

New Delhi, Sept 24 – During an official visit to the national capital, the Tourism Minister of Tripura met with Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss the state’s ongoing tourism initiatives and future development plans.
In the meeting, the Minister briefed the Union Finance Minister on various projects currently being undertaken by the Tripura Tourism Department. He emphasized the department’s vision to boost tourism infrastructure, improve connectivity, and promote Tripura as an emerging tourist destination in the Northeast. Special attention was given to new project proposals that aim to tap into the state’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and eco-tourism potential.
Seeking central assistance to accelerate these developments, the Minister requested the Hon’ble Finance Minister’s support in funding and facilitating key tourism initiatives. He also outlined several innovative plans aimed at attracting both domestic and international tourists, with a focus on sustainable and community-based tourism models.
In response, Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman assured full cooperation from the central government for the holistic development of Tripura’s tourism sector. She acknowledged the state’s unique tourism potential and expressed the Centre’s willingness to support initiatives that can generate employment, boost local economies, and enhance the state’s visibility on the national tourism map.
The meeting was also attended by the Secretary and Director of the Tripura Tourism Department, who provided additional technical details and policy frameworks for proposed projects.
The interaction concluded on a positive note, with a shared commitment to work collaboratively for the growth and promotion of Tripura’s tourism industry, marking an important step toward securing central support for the state's ambitious tourism agenda.
