Two detains in anti-narcotic operation: Cannabis seized worth Rs 1.5 lakh

Agartala: Dec 11: In a recent anti-narcotic operation, the police detained two women at the Jogendranagar rail station on Wednesday, recovering 8.4 kg of Ganja valued at approximately Rs 1.5 lakh. The women, identified as Putul Debi and Sangita Debi, were reportedly attempting to smuggle the narcotic abroad.
East Agartala Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Rana Chatterjee, informed the media that the arrest followed specific intelligence. A police team, led by Women Sub-Inspector Kamala Murasing, Sub-Inspector Narayan Deb, and College Tilla OC Sub-Inspector Shyamal Debnath, acted swiftly on the tip-off and detained the two women at the rail station.
Upon searching the women, the police found the Ganja, which was concealed in their possession. During interrogation, the detained women revealed the names of others involved in the smuggling operation. The police are continuing their investigation and will take legal action against those connected to the racket.
A specific case has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police have emphasized that they will take stringent action to dismantle the smuggling network and curb drug trafficking in the region.
