Two suspected Bangla smugglers shot dead at Kamalasagar border, tension

Two suspected Bangaldeshi smugglers were shot dead when BSF jawans opened fire in self defence at an extreme border area under Kamalsagar border oupost, police said.Police visited spot to take stock of the situation and an investigation is underway into the incident.During routine patrolling, BSF jawans spotted a group of 15 Bangaldeshi smugglers were throwing goods from across the border to Indian territory to their Indian counterpart on Friday night. The incident took place between Nabinpara and Bangaband under Kamalasagar BOP which is known for a hub of smuggling activities due to alleged inactive of Madhupur police station.On being challenged, the smugglers started pelting stones at BSF troops and in self defence the jawans opened fire resulting in two suspected persons fell on the ground.BSF jawans rushed there, recovered two injured persons- Nabin Hussain (20) and Md Moorsalin (40) with bullet injuries and were taken to Bishalgarh hospital. “Both of them succumbed to their injures after being brought to the hospital. Bodies will be handed over after conducting post mortem”, said a police officer.The killing of two suspected Bangladeshi smugglers sparked tension along the border even as steps have taken to normalize the situation at border village.Although the BSF authority is still silent over the incident, Lt Col of 60 Bn Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB), SM Shariful Islam confirmed the casualty in BSF firing along the border
