Yuba tablets valued Rs. 4 crore seized from vehicle, one arrested

Agartala, June. 15: The yuba tablets worth Rs. 4 crore were recovered from an Agartala bound mini truck at Churaibari police station on Sunday, police said. The driver of the vehicle identified as Sanjay Sahani (24) a resident of phoolbari area under Churibari police station was also arrested for carrying drugs.
Based on specific inputs, a police team posted at Churaibari check post detained a vehicle (TR 05C1755 ) coming from Assam side and carried out search.
“During search, a total of 80,000 tablets valued Rs. 4 crore was recovered from a secret chamber of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was also arrested for carrying drugs” said Superintendent of Police (SP), North Tripura, Avinash Rai.He said the police have been trying best efforts in implementing Chief Minister Manik Saha’s slogan of ‘Nasha Mukt Tripura’ and newly appointed DG Anurag Dhankar’s goes against drug instruction.
Rai said an NDPS case has been registered against the driver for his involvement in the crime and an investigation gets underway to ascertain forward and backward roots of the crime.
He also added that the Churaibari police have caught around 1,000 kg drugs last month, and are absolutely committed in containing drugs completely from the society.
