CM declares bonanza for TSR personnel on Diwali eve

 In what appears to be a festive bonanza for Tripura State Rifles troopers, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday announced a hike in ration money and uniform allowance of the soldiers a day before the festival of lights.The Chief Minister made the announcement at a TSR post located in Mandai under West Tripura district where he went to exchange festive greetings with the troopers.“Several proposals for the TSR troopers who are considered to be the pride of Tripura are under consideration. I feel this is the best place to make the announcements of the initiatives we have taken. The ration money of the TSR jawans had been increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000. The uniform allowance is also enhanced from Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000. Apart from that, a sum of rupees five lakh will be allotted to each TSR battalion headquarters for installation of gymnasiums. In addition, Rs 5 crore has been earmarked for repair and maintenance works in all TSR posts across the state,” Dr Saha added.He also informed the TSR personnel that the pending proposal of ad-hoc promotion to the 240 personnel was also approved.“The ad-hoc promotion will be given to 240 personnel to ensure that the newly raised two battalions get enough officers for smooth administrative functioning. We have also raised the honorarium for the medical officer in TSR. Now the new honorarium would be Rs 60,000,” he pointed out.Heaping praises on the force, Dr Saha said, “TSR has demonstrated exemplary performance both inside and outside the state. I am very glad to know that TSR personnel have been deployed for maintaining security in the parliament street, several foreign embassies and the court complex in New Delhi. In Chhattisgarh, the security of the whole industries area has been assigned to TSR. Apart from that, the TSR personnel are called for duty during all state assembly elections. You people also serve the state when natural calamities strike. From law and order to disaster, TSR troopers are always in service to society which is why their issues should be resolved with priority.
