Agartala: The India Block encountered an unexpected hurdle during the filing of nomination papers for the West Tripura seat. Despite high expectations, the crowd turnout fell short, leaving candidate Ashish Kumar Saha trailing behind Biplab.

Notably absent from the scene was All India Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar, who cited a leg ailment as the reason for his absence.

Ashish Kumar Saha, the India Block nominee, attributed the lackluster attendance to administrative constraints. Undeterred, he submitted his nomination papers to District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar after leading a procession through the city streets.

The procession included prominent figures such as MLA Sudip Roy Barman, Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury, former Deputy Speaker Pabitra Kar, and Ramnagar by-election candidate Ratan Das. However, the anticipated crowd failed to materialize, leaving Ashish at a disadvantage in the strength test ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

While conspiracy theories circulate about Kanhaiya Kumar’s absence, the administration remains tight-lipped on the matter. The electoral landscape in West Tripura remains uncertain as the campaign unfolds.
