Agartala, April 16: All India Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi recently led a spirited road show in Agartala, campaigning for the Indi alliance. The event witnessed remarkable enthusiasm among Congress and Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPM cadre supporters. Notably, large crowds gathered on both sides of the road, eager to catch a glimpse of Priyanka Gandhi, which is expected to boost the morale of party workers.

Upon her arrival in the state for the election campaign, Priyanka Gandhi wasted no time in directly engaging with the people. She warmly embraced women workers after leaving the airport. Subsequently, she participated in road shows, traveling in well-decorated cars to support Indy Alliance candidates.

The day’s election road show commenced from Old Raj Bhavan and followed various routes through the city, ultimately concluding at Post Office Choumuhani. The event featured prominent leaders, including Congress nominee for the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat, Ashish Kumar Saha, and CPM candidate for the Ramnagar by-election, Ratan Das. Also present were Leader of Opposition Jeetendra Chowdhury, MLA Sudip Roy Barman, Jarita Leitfang, MLA Gopal Roy, MLA Birjit Sinha, and other party leaders.

Congress and CPM workers actively participated in Priyanka Gandhi’s procession, marching on foot, riding bikes, and driving cars. The procession covered key landmarks such as North Gate, Vidurkarta Chaumuhani, Ujjayant Palace, Jackson Gate, Kaman Chaumuhani, and Surya Chaumuhani before culminating at Post Office Chaumuhani. The growing crowd as the procession reached Kaman Chaumuhani reflected the public’s keen interest in witnessing Priyanka Gandhi.

This surge of enthusiasm around Priyanka Gandhi’s campaign appears to invigorate the Congress and CPM, contrasting with the rival BJP’s star campaigner, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who held a rally in Kumarghat. Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address an election rally tomorrow at Swami Vivekananda Ground.
