Financial Assistance Provided to Cyclone-Affected Farmers in Midhili: A Gesture of Respect and Support

Agartala: July 04: Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath addressed the “Financial Assistance to Farmers Affected by Natural Calamities in Midhili” program at the Nazrul Kalakshetra Auditorium today. In his speech, he emphasized the critical role of farmers as food donors and highlighted their contribution to society’s progress.

The state and central governments stand firmly by the farmers, recognizing their significance in agriculture and societal well-being. Minister Nath expressed gratitude and love towards farmers, acknowledging that food production would be impossible without their tireless efforts.

Cyclone Midhili, which struck the state last November, affected 78,279 farmers. Today, a total of ₹21,97,18,000 (21.97 crore) has been disbursed as compensation directly to their accounts.

The program witnessed the participation of approximately 11,000 farmers across 39 locations in the state. Minister Nath reiterated the government’s commitment to “One Tripura, Best Tripura,” emphasizing the importance of supporting the 4,72,000 farmer families who work diligently to sustain society.

The event also featured notable attendees, including Rabindra Debvarma (Executive Member, Department of Education and Culture), Ratan Chakraborty (Member, Tripura Legislative Assembly), Deepak Majumder (Member, Tripura Legislative Assembly and Mayor, Agartala Pur Parishad), and Fanibhushan Jamatia (Director, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department). Haridulal Acharya, Chairman of the West Tripura Zilla Parishad, presided over the function.
