Agartala: Sept 06: The Assembly recently engaged in a detailed discussion regarding the shortage of faculty members in higher educational institutions across Tripura. Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha addressed the issue in response to a query from Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury, highlighting the government’s efforts to fill 211 vacant faculty positions.

The Higher Education Department is actively working to address these vacancies. The Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) has already started the process to fill 75 positions, while the Finance Department has approved funding for an additional 126 positions.

In response, the Chief Minister provided a detailed breakdown of the vacancies and the steps being taken to fill them. He mentioned that the government is working on filling vacancies for assistant professors in government colleges, technical institutions, and other educational establishments. However, he also acknowledged the challenges, including the need for amendments to recruitment rules for certain positions.
