Significant Losses to Cooperative Department Due to Floods in Tripura

Agartala: Sept 15: The recent floods in Tripura have caused significant damage to the Cooperative Department, resulting in losses estimated at 2 crore 75 lakh rupees. This information was disclosed by Cooperative Registrar Dasharath Debbarma during a press conference at the Agartala Press Club.

The floods have severely impacted various district and subdivisional offices of the Cooperative Department, as well as cooperative societies. The worst affected districts include Gomati and South Tripura. In South Tripura, the total loss amounts to 67 lakh rupees, with complete damage to two fair price shops of Purba Bakafya PACS, office equipment of Palli Unnayan PACS, Laugang PACS, the godown of Samaj Kalyan PACS, Sabroom Primary Marketing Cooperative Society, Nihar Kamal PACS, and the office buildings of Muhuripur PACS. In Gomati district, the office of the Sub-Registrar in Amarpur was completely submerged, resulting in the loss of office equipment and computers.

Registrar Debbarma also reported that the total loss in Gomati district is 83 lakh rupees, affecting the office and godown of Pitra PACS, Hirapur PACS, Chelangang LAMPS, Bampur LAMPS, and Amarpur Primary Marketing Cooperative Society. Additionally, the cooperative sector in Sepahijala district suffered losses of 46 lakh rupees, Dhalai district incurred losses of 37 lakh rupees, and West Tripura district faced losses of 32 lakh rupees. Despite these challenges, 268 LAMPS PACS in Tripura have continued their daily operations.
