A significant number of Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested in the state over the past three years for illegally entering the country

Agartala: Jan 13: The Home Minister and Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, reported that 2,815 Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested for illegal infiltration over the past three years, from 2022 to October 31, 2024. Of these, 1,746 have been deported. This information was provided in a written reply to unmarked questions from Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma, Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury, and CPI(M) MLA Nayan Sarkar on the second day of the 13th Assembly.
The Home Minister further informed that 1,069 arrested Bangladeshi nationals remain. Of these, 474 are in jail custody, 8 in temporary detention centers, 2 in shelters, and 585 have been released on bail by the court.
