Yuba tablets worth Rs. 1 crore seized from Battala, two arrested

Over 1 lakh yuba tablets which are used as powerful addictive stimulants by the youth were seized from a cement laden truck at Battala in West Tripura district, police said.The driver and his assistant were also arrested for carrying contraband items.“Based on specific inputs, a police team detained one truck coming Meghalya at Battala under West Tripura police station on Sunday morning. During search, a total of 1,24,000 yuba tablets were recovered the vehicle’s cabin. The vehicle was destined for Sonamura in Sepahijala district”, Superintendent of Police (SP), West Tripura, Kiran Kumar told the reporters.He said the yuba tablets were seized under NSPS Act and two persons- driver Jamal Hussain (44) and his assistant Mintu Barman (29) were also arrested.“We will through interrogate the arrested persons to know the source and supply point of good number of yuba tablets. The police will book all the persons who are involved in the smuggling attempt. The price of the sized yuba tablets will be Rs. 1 crore”, he said
