Notorious criminal arrested for the second time

Agartala, Mar. 13 : A notorious mafia leader of the Amtali area, Biplab Majumdar, was arrested once again by police Thursday. Majumder was, reportedly, instrumental in carrying out multiple criminal activities in the local area. 

This is not the first time he has been arrested for his alleged involvement in unlawful activities . In 2023, he assaulted a TSR jawan who was then stationed at the Amtali police station. Following the incident, the police registered a case against him under multiple sections. Despite his criminal background, he is reportedly enjoying some political backing. He had allegedly occupied government land near the bypass road adjacent to the Amtali police station, where he has been constructing several shops.  

On Wednesday night, Biplab openly challenged the police in different ways, causing tension in the area. However, due to fear, no eyewitnesses came forward to protest against him. Eventually, the police apprehended him and brought him to the Amtali police station. Even after his arrest, the accused continued to hurl abuses at the police and issued threats.  

Sources from the Amtali police station have confirmed that legal action was taken against him on Wednesday night. For a long time, local residents have been suffering due to his criminal activities, and many believe that a powerful figure has been backing him silently
