124 Bn CRPF Officials Paid Homage To Martyrs

 With the initiative of 124 Bn CRPF a martyrdom recollection programme has been organized here in Chellagang through which battalion officials have given tribute to martyrs. To recollect those heroes the battalion has paid special homage to 17 CRPF martyrs who had sacrificed their life for the protection of the nation. Under the able guidance and supervision of the 124 Bn CRPF commandant Mr. Ravish Kumar the event has been conducted here in Chellagang, under Chellagang PS, in Amarpur subdivision, Gomati Tripura. On this occasion a large number of 124 Bn CRPF officials, battalion jawans, local administrators and villagers have assembled in the programme venue. As per the report, one platoon C/33 Bn alongwith one home guard were killed by terrorists near Chellagang area on 07/05/1997. Those bravest heroes of CRPF have scarified their precious life for the sake of the nation and proved that a soldier is always in promptness to dedicate the life for the protection of nation. According to official report, based on secret information the platoon went to search extremists in that area and after completion of search operation, the platoon boarded the vehicle and left for coy head quarter but at about 0730 hrs enroute platoon was ambushed by extremists believed to be NLFT terrorist in large number with sophisticated weapons and attacked the CRPF vehicle pitilessly. Officer commanding C/33 Bn along with four Jawans had rushed to the firing site immediately and simultaneously one platoon under command HC/GD Ram Kumar also followed on foot. OC C/33 Bn reached the ambush site at about 0750 hrs and found that 17 personnel of 33 Bn CRPF and 01 home guard of Tripura Police had lost their life in this terrific attack. To recollect those bravest CRPF martyrs 124 Bn CRPF officials have paid homage through this programme with due dignity.Amidst the distinguished officials participants there were Shri Y.K. Rajput DIG, GC-CRPF-Agartala, Shri T.K. Hati, DIG, TPA Sector and Shri Ravish Kumar, Commandant 124 Bn, CRPF and other many dignitaries were present in this martyrdom programme
