Agartala, May 4: Member of Parliament from West Tripura and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday emphasized the significant educational reforms undertaken in the state since the BJP-led government came to power in 2018. As part of his ongoing "Transforming Tripura" series on social media, Deb highlighted the introduction of the NCERT syllabus across government schools as a major milestone in Tripura’s education sector.
Deb described the implementation of the NCERT curriculum as a forward-looking reform that has brought Tripura’s education system in line with national standards. He stated that this move has empowered students to perform better in secondary and higher secondary examinations, while also equipping them to face national-level competitive and entrance tests with greater confidence—an area where students from the state previously struggled.
Reflecting on the past, Deb criticized the decades-long rule of the Communist Party in Tripura, alleging that political ideologies were deeply embedded in the state’s education system. He said that instead of focusing on the achievements of national heroes, great thinkers, or the rich legacy of Tripura’s royal history, the curriculum under the Left regime promoted a narrow political narrative.
“Today, with the adoption of the revised National Education Policy and the NCERT syllabus, Tripura’s students are discovering a new academic path,” Deb stated, adding that these reforms mark a shift toward practical, quality-driven education focused on building future-ready citizens.
Deb reaffirmed the BJP government’s commitment to further strengthening the education system, ensuring that students in even the most remote parts of the state have access to modern, competitive, and nationally recognized education.
