CM inaugurates five school buildings

Agartala, May 02 :  Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday assured that the schools that are being upgraded into English Medium schools shall have enough English background teachers in the days to come. 

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of new infrastructure for as many as five schools at Bani Vidyapith school, Agartala, the Chief Minister said, “Tripura has witnessed a sea change in the field of education. There was a time when school going children had to spend their days in fear. Chaos was normal in schools and colleges. Crude bombs were lobbed often. The political dispensation that governed the state at that point of time spoiled the future of several generations. The present education system is far better than that period.” 

Stating that the quality education is essential for quality human resource, Dr Saha said, “The future of the state as well as this country lies on the shoulders of the students of today. The youth of today. If we can provide them with quality education we shall get a quality human resource that will contribute significantly in nation building.”

According to Dr Saha, the drop-out numbers in Tripura declined significantly in the last couple of years. “Through TET exams, we are recruiting teachers in government schools at regular intervals. Several schools which used to impart lessons in Bengali medium now had been upgraded to English Medium schools. There is a general complaint from the parents that despite being upgraded to English Medium schools, the medium of teaching is still Bengali. The matter is being gradually addressed through recruitment of teachers through TET exams,” Dr Saha added. 

Speaking on the infrastructure development project, Dr Saha said, “A total of Rs 8 crore 70 lakh had been spent for the projects in five schools namely Ramnagar H/S School (English Medium), Barkathali H/S School Under Hezamara RD Block, Darogamura High School (English Medium) under Hezamara R.D Block, Khudiram Basu English Medium School under AMC and Sukanta Academy English Medium H/S School.”
