Agartala, May 3: The Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested two Indian touts and a Bangladeshi woman at Agartala Railway Station for illegally entering Tripura by evading the Border Security Force (BSF). A specific case has been registered against the trio, and they are set to be produced before the court today.

Illegal infiltration from Bangladesh into Tripura remains a persistent issue, despite strict border surveillance by the BSF. Reports suggest that individuals are frequently entering the state with the help of brokers by crossing the barbed-wire fence along the Indo-Bangla border. This incident highlights the continuing challenge of border security enforcement in the region.

Officer-in-charge of the GRP police station, Tapas Das, informed that the arrests were made following a tip-off about Bangladeshi nationals planning to travel to another state from Agartala Railway Station with the assistance of brokers. Acting swiftly, the GRP launched an operation at the station and detained three individuals during the raid.

Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to having entered Tripura illegally. They were reportedly en route to Bangalore at the time of their arrest. The individuals arrested include Krishna Debnath, a resident under Sabroom police station limits, Tutun De from Rajnagar, and one Bangladeshi national.

GRP authorities have reiterated their commitment to tightening surveillance and cracking down on illegal border crossings with the support of intelligence inputs and public cooperation. The investigation is ongoing, and further details may emerge as legal proceedings progress.

The incident once again underscores the need for coordinated efforts between border forces, police, and intelligence agencies to curb illegal infiltration and human trafficking in the border state.
