Udaipur, April 28, 2025: Widespread outrage has erupted in Tripura following controversial remarks made on social media by a youth named Javed Hossain targeting the revered Mata Tripureshwari Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. The incident has triggered statewide protests, especially in Udaipur, where citizens have accused the police of inaction and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.

The controversy comes in the wake of a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, that claimed 26 lives and has left the nation grieving. While the country unites in mourning and protest, some individuals have continued to post inflammatory content online. Javed Hossain allegedly made derogatory comments about the Tripureshwari Temple, which led the Hindu Jagaran Manch to file a formal complaint on Saturday at Radha Kishorepur police station.

Despite two days passing since the complaint was lodged, police have yet to arrest Hossain. On Monday at 10 AM, public anger boiled over as residents blocked the national highway at Netaji Subhash Bridge, disrupting traffic between Udaipur, Sakram, and Agartala. Hundreds of vehicles and commuters were left stranded on both sides of the blockade.

The protest drew the attention of senior officials, including the Udaipur Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Radha Kishorepur police officials, Tripura State Rifles (TSR), and central forces. Demonstrators made their demands clear — Javed Hossain must be arrested without further delay.

A written memorandum was submitted to the police, setting a 10-day deadline for the arrest. A spokesperson for the protest told reporters that the authorities must act swiftly to maintain communal harmony and uphold the sentiments of the people. Tensions remain high as the public awaits concrete action from law enforcement agencies.
