Agartala, Apr. 29 : Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), Asish Kumar Saha on Tuesday asserted the party will intensify the battle against the present government’s move.

While addressing a ‘save constitution rally’ here, he alleged the democracy has been at stake under the BJP rule spanning over one decade.

“The constitution is at stake. The government is trying to snatch away the rights guaranteed by the constitution enacting black laws. Communal harmony is also facing difficult times. However, the Congress stands tall against the BJP government’s attempt to save constitution”, he said.

Asserting that the Congress will continue to act as protector of the constitutional value, Saha said the BJP government got the Waqf (Amendment) Act -2025 passed in the Parliament in undemocratic way.

“The way Acct was passed in an undemocratic way. They are trying to occupy properties owned by a certain religion. The Congress will continue to galvanize peoples’ support against the Act”, he said.

Alleging that the agencies like CBI, ED and IT (Income Tax) have become frontal organization of the BJP and its parent – RSS, he stated the ED had carried out raids in the office of National Herald in an illegal way.

“Central agencies are harassing the leaders of opposition parties. This is nothing short of dictatorship rule initiated by the BJP led government. We vehemently condemned the ED’s role in the National Herald case”, he said.

Senior Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman slammed the BJP for targeting the Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case.

“The court termed the chargesheet submitted by the ED in the National Herald case incomplete. The central agencies have become caged parrots under the BJP-RSS rule”, he said.
