Agartala: May 05: A group of job-seeking youths staged a peaceful protest and submitted a deputation to the Inspector General (IG) of Jail Police, urging immediate action to complete the long-pending recruitment process for jail warden posts. The protest was organized in response to the continued delay in conducting the written examination for 249 advertised positions.
According to one of the aspirants, the interview notification for these vacancies was originally released in 2022. However, due to the announcement of elections during that period, the recruitment process was abruptly put on hold. Since then, over two years have passed without any official update or progress regarding the examination.
Frustrated by the prolonged silence and lack of clarity, the candidates have reportedly submitted nearly 20 deputations over the past three years, seeking a resolution. Despite these efforts, no satisfactory response has been received from the concerned authorities.
As a result, the aspirants were compelled to directly approach the Inspector General, reiterating their demand for a clear timeline and swift completion of the recruitment procedure. The deputation was formally submitted to the IG, highlighting the urgency of the matter and the anxiety faced by hundreds of unemployed youths.
In addition to their appeal to the IG, the protestors have also made a direct plea to the Chief Minister, requesting immediate intervention to ensure the recruitment process is finalized without further delay.
The aspirants expressed hope that the administration will take their concerns seriously and act promptly, as the uncertainty has severely affected their morale and career prospects.
