Assam's Darang district was shaken by a magnitude 3.5 earthquake

Guwahati, December 29 (H.S.): Today Thursday at 12:27:50 p.m., a mild earthquake shook Darang district and surrounding areas, about 62 km from Guwahati. The magnitude of the earthquake was 3.5 on the Richter scale. No casualty or other damage was reported. It is known that the epicenter of today's earthquake was mainly on the India-Myanmar border.

 

According to the information released by the National Center for Seismology, the source of the earthquake that occurred today is 62 km away from the capital Guwahati, 10 km deep underground at 26.58 north latitude and 92.13 longitude.

 

It may be mentioned here that recent earthquakes are occurring frequently in various states of North Eastern region including Assam.
