Agartala: Sept 19: A delegation of the Pradesh Congress called on the Governor to file allegations of corruption against Scheduled Tribes Public Welfare Department Minister Bikas Debbarma. On Thursday afternoon, Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, MLA Gopal Chandra Roy, former Pradesh Congress President Pijush Kanti Biswas, former MLA Ashok Debbarma, Congress ST Department Chairman Shabad Kumar Jamatia, ST leader Manmohan Reang met Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu.

They told the governor that in the last September 5 assembly session, MLA Sudip Roy Barman along with the rest of the Congress MLAs drew the attention of the Chief Minister and complained to the Treasury Bench that Minister Bikas Debbarma had committed financial corruption. In other words, it is alleged against the minister that the group of development projects which received a loan of Rs 1400 crore from the Asian Bank for the development of the tribes has been corrupt. There was a detailed discussion on this issue in the assembly. Later, the minister himself held a press conference and acknowledged the integrity of the property. But it was observed that the minister claimed that he was already the owner of this financial property. But when Bikas Debbarma filed his affidavit during the 2023 elections, such assets were not mentioned in his affidavits. He showed only 56 lakh rupees to Election Commission. So the question has arisen about how he became the owner of so much money and property in the last one and a half years. The Governor has been told whether Minister Bikas Debbarma has disappeared money after taking over the ministry or whether he has hidden the amount of money and property from the Election Commission so that the Governor directs the Chief Minister to take steps for a constitutional inquiry. Besides, the Congress delegation demanded immediate dismissal from the cabinet and investigation and legal action. This is what the Pradesh Congress President said after the deputation.
