Agartala: Sept 18: A tragic incident occurred in Bishalgarh Gazaria, where a TSR jawan allegedly set his wife, Lakshmi Das, on fire, resulting in her death. The couple had been married for 11 years and had a daughter together. According to reports, Lakshmi's husband, Swapan Das, poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze around 11 pm, after they returned home from a puja ceremony ¹.

Lakshmi's family alleges that she had been subjected to physical and mental torture throughout their marriage, with her husband frequently beating her after getting drunk. Before her death, Lakshmi revealed that her husband was responsible for the horrific act.

The police have arrested Swapan Das, and the deceased's family is demanding strict punishment for him. This incident has sparked widespread outrage in the community, highlighting the need for greater awareness and action against domestic violence.
