Agartala: July 26: Amidst controversy, the central government recently unveiled its budget, sparking reactions from various quarters. Tripura Pradesh Congress branch organizations took to the streets in protest against what they perceive as an “anti-public welfare” budget. The march, which began in front of the Congress building, wound its way through the city’s roads, culminating at the city center. In a symbolic gesture, Congress leaders burned a copy of the budget.

Youth Congress President Neelkamal Saha criticized the budget, labeling it as detrimental to public welfare. He highlighted concerns about unemployment, women’s rights, and the welfare of farmers and workers. Saha also alleged that the budget favors the ruling BJP government. Notably, separate allocations for Andhra Pradesh and Bihar have raised eyebrows, with some speculating that this move stems from fears of government instability.

Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty, President of Pradesh Mahila Congress, expressed disappointment over the lack of focus on women’s empowerment and protection in the budget.
