Karimganj (Assam), December 30 (H.E.): The century-old Government Higher Secondary School of Karimganj was saved from the terrible fire. A few quintals of mid-day mill rice was burnt to ashes in the devastating fire. Several classrooms were damaged.

The incident happened on Friday morning. The incident was reported to the Karimganj Fire Department. On receiving information, fire brigade personnel reached the spot with an engine and brought the fire under control.

It is learned that a local person went out for a morning walk in the morning and saw the fire in the warehouse of the school and first informed the fire brigade. Shaibalkanti Das, the principal of the school rushed to the news. After that, the employees of the electricity department rushed to the news of the incident. The school escaped major damage in the fire. However, some sacks of rice were burnt to ashes.

In this regard, the principal of the school said that it is not yet clear how the fire started. As a result of the fire, 45 quintals of rice and some wooden materials and furniture were destroyed. He thinks that the fire has started from a short circuit somewhere.
