MLA Ramendra Chandra Debnath passed away

Agartala: Feb 01: State MLA Ramendra Chandra Debnath passed away after a long illness. He died at a private hospital in Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon.

Ramendra Chandra Debnath was the MLA of 58 Yuvraj Nagar Kendra. He was a member of the state cabinet from 1998 to 2003. He then served as the Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly from 2003 to 2018. He was also elected in 2018. He was suffering from various physical ailments for a long time. He was also suffering from kidney problems. Along with the treatment, dialysis was also going on in Calcutta. He went to Calcutta for treatment.

As soon as the news of his death spread on this day, the shadow of mourning descended on the political arena. His body will be brought to the state on Wednesday.
