Modernization in agriculture through NABARD’s made FPO BAPCL

The initiatives are taken by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Tripura Regional Office through the modernization of agriculture with modern equipment like Paddy Transplanter Machine in paddy cultivation in the state, where BAPCL is being played an important role for the benefit of farmers in the state.The Bagma Agri Producer Company Limited (BAPCL) started to implement the modernization in agriculture in Tripura under the innovative leadership of Loken Das, the Ex-General Manager of NABARD, Tripura R.O. This project, funded by the Farm Sector Promotion Fund, included an exposure visit and field demonstration of new technologies. In February 2023, 25 farmers were selected and sent to "Satmile Satish Club '' in Falkata, Cooch Behar, West Bengal, to learn about and adopt these new technologies.After returning to the Gomati district on February 22, a meeting was held on February 23 at the BAPCL conference hall with the visiting farmers. In this meeting, attended by the MD and CEO of BAPCL, it was decided that the project would be implemented in two locations covering a total of 2 hectares – 1 hectare in South Bagma and another in West Khupilong.The transplantation using paddy transplanters was carried out on 2 hectares of land in Daksin Bagma and West Khupilong. Field day programs and visits organized by BAPCL influenced invited delegates from ICAR, KVKs, and the College of Agriculture. This led to the adoption of the technology in an additional 4 hectares of land, including 1 hectare each at KVK-South and KVK-Sepahijala, 0.5 hectares at the College of Agriculture, and 1 hectare at Birganj GP under the Amarpur R.D Block of Gomati district.Sudip Majumder, Managing Director of BAPCL, highlighted the socio-economic benefits of adopting scientific technology in the farming community of Tripura. The CEO of BAPCL, Mr. Farukul Islam, an agricultural scientist, has consistently emphasized the health benefits of using paddy transplanters.
