National Seminar organized by Women’s Studies Centre in Tripura University

 In a bid to delve into the evolving paradigm of gender inclusion in contemporary India, the Women’s Studies Centre organized a National Seminar on the  ‘Public Policy for Gender Inclusion in Contemporary India: The Evolving Paradigm’. The event, held at the Conference Hall of the New Guest House, commenced Thursday last and is scheduled to continue the following day.Distinguished guests graced the occasion Smitha Mol M. S., IAS, Director & Ex-Officio Additional Secretarywas the Chief Guest and Professor Ganga Prasad Prasain, Vice Chancellor of Tripura University presided over the function. Prof. Ishita Mukhopadhyay, Dean of Arts (Acting) at Calcutta University, Former President of IAWS, Dr. Deepak Sharma, Registrar of the hosting university were also present in the inaugural function. Proceedings commenced with Professor ParamitaSaha ,Director Women’s Studies Centre, TU welcoming the dignitaries and eminent speakers.Prof. Ishita Mukhopadhyay delivered the keynote address titled ‘Gender Mainstreaming: Evolutionary Public Policies Towards Gender Equality in India’. This set the stage for an insightful exploration into the subject matter.The seminar featured a series of lectures and discussions, with Prof.ArijitaDatta shedding light on ‘Public Policy and Women’s Health’ and Dr.AnjanaBhattacharjee addressing ‘Gender Discrimination and Mental Health Crisis Among Women: The Need for a Paradigm Shift in Healthcare’. This session was chaired by Prof.Subhrabaran Das, providing a platform for nuanced discussions.In the subsequent technical sessions, chaired by Prof.SamptiGuha and Prof.Utpal Kumar De respectively, esteemed speakers presented their research and insights. Dr.BarnaGanguly, Professor of P S Medical College , Anand , Gujarat discussed ‘Gender Inclusion in Healthcare: What Are We Looking For?’ and Prof. Salim Shah explored ‘Gender Issues in Public Health Behavior and Provisions: The Indian Experiences’.In the final session of the day, Prof.SamptiGuha addressed ‘Women in Management: Need for Inclusive Policies in India’, Prof.Subhrabaran Das examined ‘Empowerment and Gender-Based Violence: A Discussion in Light of Some Policy Prescriptions’. Dr.SriparnaGuha contributed to the discourse of Women Empowerment through Gender Budgeting.The Seminar organised by Women’s Studies Centre of Tripura University has provided a platform for academia, policymakers, and stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue and chart a course towards more inclusive public policies concerning gender in India. The event will continue tomorrow where, anti trafficking activists human rights activists, authors will share their experiences and perceptions in addition to speakers  from academia. With a diverse range of perspectives and expertise, the event promises to contribute significantly to the ongoing discourse on gender equality and inclusion in the country
