PEACEFUL CONDUCT OF ELECTION IN TRIPURA

Agartala 19th April, 2024(PIB): Polling during the 1st phase of election in Tripura on 19th April 2024 went off peacefully.  BSF had beefed up security on the border as well as in hinterland. 66 Coys of BSF were deployed, in phases, for pre poll domination since 28 Feb in the state of Tripura. In the run up to the election contraband items worth Rs. 1.86 cr were seized and 64 suspects were detained in joint operation with police and other agencies.

Border Security Force, Tripura facilitated the border population to discharge their electoral rights and Gates were kept open during the voting hours for the population residing ahead of border security fence and all assistance ware provided so that the border population could exercise their democratic rights. At the same time, BSF also maintained a tight vigil along the border so that criminal elements from both sides do not create any hinderance in the electoral process. Old aged and differently abled voters were given assistance by the BSF troops deployed at polling booths.
BSF is fully committed to promote safety & security among the border population and facilitate them to cast their votes during the biggest democratic process in the world.
