Agartala: Nov 12: Concerns over illegal immigration have been escalating in Tripura, as infiltration continues unabated despite efforts by the Border Security Force (BSF) and state police to control the situation. Though the authorities have occasionally apprehended individuals involved in illegal immigration and brought them before the media, they have struggled to effectively curb the issue.
On Monday, acting on a tip-off, the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested three Bangladeshi women at the Badarghat Railway Station in Agartala. The women, identified as Hasna Hena, Kulsoom Begum, and Swapna Akter, were found to have illegally entered India from Bangladesh. They were attempting to travel further into India by train when they were apprehended.
The arrest took place in the afternoon, and the GRP has filed a case against the three women under specific provisions related to illegal immigration. Following their arrest, the women were produced in court on Tuesday, and further legal action is being pursued. The incident highlights the ongoing challenge of managing illegal immigration in the region, despite the efforts of law enforcement agencies to secure the border and prevent unauthorized crossings.
