Agartala: Mar 26: Tripura's opposition leader Jitendra Choudhury has strongly condemned Speaker Bishwabandhu Sen, accusing him of suppressing opposition voices and undermining democracy in the state assembly. This comes after a heated exchange between Choudhury and Parliamentary Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who made derogatory remarks, prompting Choudhury to issue a breach of privilege notice.

The controversy deepened when Speaker Sen accepted Nath's breach of privilege notice, claiming it was the first one filed, despite Choudhury's earlier submission. Choudhury has accused the Speaker of bias, alleging that he has become a "referee" for the ruling BJP, distorting the truth and suppressing dissent.

In response, the CPI(M) has decided to boycott the remaining days of the ongoing budget session, labeling it a "tainted chapter" in the state's history under the BJP government . Choudhury has emphasized that the opposition will continue to fight for public interests and democracy, despite the Speaker's actions.
