Farmers’ Training and Input Distribution Programme Held in BAPCL office at Bagma

A ‘One Day Farmers’ Training cum Input Distribution Programme’ focusing on the 'Importance of Cultivation of Vegetables for Increasing the Income of Farmers' was successfully conducted at Bagma, Gomati District on June 27. The event was organized under the ICAR-IIVR sponsored project “Promotional Activities of Vegetables in NEH Region” by the College of Agriculture, Tripura, in collaboration with Bagma Agri Producer Company Ltd. (BAPCL).The programme was graced by the presence of Prof. Debashish Sen, Principal of the College of Agriculture, Tripura, along with key faculty members including Dr. Tridip Bhattacharjee, the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project, Dr. Farukul Islam, CEO of BAPCL, and Assistant Professors Dr. Utpal Giri, Dr. Durga Prasad Awasthi, Dr. Dharmendra Debbarma, and Dr. Th. Irenaeus K.S.In his welcome address, Prof. Sen extended a warm welcome to all the guests and encouraged the farmers to maximize the benefits of the training. The event saw the participation of 60 experienced male and female progressive farmers from the Gomati District of Tripura.During the programme, each farmer received seeds of cowpea, sponge gourd, okra, seedlings of pointed gourd, and a packet of Trichoderma viride. The seeds supplied by ICAR-IIVR, Varanasi, aim to provide farmers with quality vegetable seeds to reduce dependency on external seed sources and promote local procurement.The project “ICAR-IIVR-Promotional Activities of Vegetables in NEH Region” has previously conducted similar training sessions in other districts of Tripura, imparting valuable knowledge on vegetable cultivation to boost local vegetable production.The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Utpal Giri, who expressed gratitude to all involved in making the programme a significant success.
