Agartala: Mar 23: The Food Department in Tripura has set a crucial deadline of March 31 for linking ration cards with Aadhaar cards, as part of the broader efforts to ensure transparency and efficiency in the distribution of government benefits. Additionally, the state has implemented the 'One Nation, One Ration Card' (ONORC) scheme, becoming the first state in the northeastern region to do so. This initiative aims to allow ration cardholders to access their entitled rations from any part of the country, promoting greater convenience and mobility for beneficiaries.
However, the implementation of this ambitious project has faced some challenges. A significant issue is the incomplete KYC (Know Your Customer) process among ration cardholders. Many consumers in Tripura have not yet finished this crucial step, which is necessary for linking their ration cards with Aadhaar and activating the ONORC benefits. Ration dealers have raised concerns that if the KYC process is not completed before the deadline, many consumers will not be able to access their rations through the new system, undermining the purpose of the initiative.
Ration dealers have urgently called on consumers to complete the KYC process at their respective ration centers. They have emphasized that failing to do so in time could prevent people from benefiting from both the Aadhaar linking and the 'One Nation, One Ration Card' scheme. With the deadline fast approaching, it is crucial for all eligible beneficiaries to act promptly to ensure they do not miss out on the advantages of these welfare schemes. The success of this initiative hinges on timely completion of formalities, and the cooperation of ration cardholders will be key to achieving this goal.
