Goods train service not restored at Jatinga, NFR buys more time

The state will urge the Centre to expedite track maintenance work in Assam’s Jatinga for restoration of goods train service immediately, said an official on Tuesday.The goods train service through Jatinga in Assam’s Dima Hasao district has been snapped since April 26 due to derailment of goods train which causes disruption in goods supply to Tripura.The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) which had assured to restore goods train service through will be restored by May 7, has failed to meet the deadline and sought three more days for restoration of the service.To tide over the situation, the (Tripura) state government has already imposed restriction on selling of fuel as stock continues to remain low.“The goods train service at Jatinga has not been restored despite all-out efforts by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). Now, it (NFR) asks for three more days to restore goods train service. We will take up the issue with the highest level to get goods train service restored immediately”, (Tripura) Transport secretary, UK Chakma said
